The Dunn Loring garage is part of a Joint Development and Adjacent Construction agreement between WMATA and Mill Creek Residential Trust (MCRT), and provids residential and retail services to residents and commuters in the Vienna, Virginia, area. Gannett Fleming provided quality assurance services for the parking garage portion of the project. The Twinbrook West garage project consists of a 426-space, seven-floor outdoor parking facility. The facility serves a fleet of approximately 188 buses, vans, and paratransit vehicles, all of which serve the Richmond area. The new buildings, located on a 12-acre site on Belt Boulevard, will house 490 employees working in operations, maintenance, and administration. The facility will serve upwards of 9 million passengers annually. The project consists of outdoor bus and employee parking facilities; a three-story, 16,700 square-foot administration and operations facility; and a connecting bridge to an adjacent 107,900-square-foot maintenance facility. The 21-bay maintenance facility includes a money drop-off station, a fueling station, automatic bus washing facilities, a brake repair shop, maintenance bays for inspections of both regular and articulated buses, tire repair and\/or replacement bays, trouble work bays for both light and heavy maintenance, large parts storage, a battery room, body repair shop bays, and a downdraft paint booth to accommodate both regular and articulated buses. The second floor of the maintenance facility consists of training rooms, bus facilitator rooms, daily activity offices, conference rooms, and other daily office facilities.
